The commencement of education in English medium in school was visioned in Dharmaj early in 1904. The globalization is the key to long term sustenance in the world was already been known to the great visionaries of Dharmaj village. They understood that sooner or later we must have to associate ourselves with the world and truly embody the proverb ‘वसुधैव कुटुंबकम (Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam)’. Post-independence i.e. in 1950, the then Government made English as an optional subject periodically from STD 5th, saw a decline in enrolments in English medium schools. The situation came to such extent that the school has to be shut down due to losses. English was establishing itself as a global language in the world; the globalization, industrialization, technology has been adopting English as its official language. The well-to-do parents of Dharmaj started sending their children to English medium boarding schools outside Gujarat. But on other hand, in a natural context they also started thinking of other in the village and their children.
In Year 1975, Shri Surendrabhai, Shri Ravindrabhai and Shri Chandrakantbhai – Owners of Urvakunj Group of Industries and the worthy families of Dharmaj – thought since they are financially sound they can afford to educate their children in expensive English medium schools outside of Gujarat but what about the children of other villagers who have very marginal financial resources. Education creates no boundaries and certainly it must be accessible across all classes and to all the ethnic groups. Under the flag of Dharmaj Kelavani Mandal, there have been many institutions have come into existence and that the whole village contributed freehanded whatsoever may the class of the family be.
Beginning with Sarvajanik Primary School in Year 1876, Sarvajanik Kanya Shala in 1889, Motibhai Dahyabhai Public Library in 1904, Vyayam Mandir in 1913, V. N. High School in 1926, T. V. Patel Technical School and Gangaba Workshop in 1961… there are numerous institutions gifted to the area and even redeveloped by the village itself whenever required.
In year 1978, Dharmaj was gifted with Dharmaj English Medium School which was then shifted to new and bigger campus near Dharmaj Crossroads. The H. M. Patel English Medium Schools’ Campus – thus named after son of Dharmaj Hon. Dr. Hirubhai Muljibhai Patel – embraced all the schools i.e.
