The H. M. Patel English Medium Schools' Complex

History

History

DHARMAJ KELAVANI MANDAL – the parent organization of The H. M. Patel English Medium Schools’ Complex – has always been a front runner in utilizing all its resources for the benefit of the village and its vicinity. The nature of empathy for the poor and marginal and on the other side handful of worthy hands led to many a great institutions in the Resolved to start an English Medium School in the Village. In year 1976 – 77, Dharmaj Kelavani Mandal with a few compassionate village leaders decided to start an English medium School in Dharmaj for all those in the area who cannot afford expensive boarding school education for their children. The Proposal was put forth before Shri Chimanbhai Patel and Shri Jashbhai Patel the then Secretary and office bearers of the Dharmaj Kelavani Mandal. The proposal was unanimously passed in the general meeting of the governing body and thus the born of a new English Medium School for the middle class and marginal families of Dharmaj and nearby villages paved its way. It was 13th July 1978, when the school begun in the campus of V. N. High School. The New school named as English Medium School with initially classes from KG to STD 1st and a total of 76 children started functioning. The School campus was renovated by Shri Ravindrabhai Purshottamdas Patel. The Nicotine Group of Industries had donated Rs.1,02,000/- for the trust Fund & Rs. 10,000/- for Administrative expenses during those days. However, due to the inconveniency of the infrastructure, the school was shifted to Kashiba Kanya Vidyalaya building.

During all these temporary arrangements for English Medium School the grand idea of ideal school complex was nurturing in the minds of enthusiastic members of Dharmaj Kelavani Mandal. The site was selected i.e. the present vanue at Dharmaj Crossroads which was a fertile agricultural land spread over 15 acres where the village farmers were growing golden leaves. The land owners without any hesitation agreed to sell their belonging land at quite a reasonable rate in consideration to the noble purpose of school. The Foundation Stone was put by Shri Rabindrabhai P. Patel on 19th October 1980.

It was Shri Jashbhai Gordhanbhai Patel lovingly called ‘Jashbhai Bapu’ who dreamt of a good school with all the required infrastructure and facility. It was him who took up the challenging task of convincing land owners for giving up their money earning land for the noble purpose.

Started with just 76 children and classes from KG to STD 1st, the complex is now hosting more than 1400 children from Nursery to STD 12th (Science & Commerce). The Visionary and Multidimensional personality of Shri Hirubhai Muljibhai Patel sir – the son of Dharmaj, the abled Administrator and also the golden name in the development of not just Gujarat but also the India – has directed the development of the school to all new heights during his tenure as President of Dharmaj Kelavani Mandal from 1963 to 1993. Any reward would fall short against what Shri H. M. Patel Sir has done for the village and school through, never expressed his ownership but truly owned. However, the villagers in fond memory of love and respect for him named the School Campus on his name i.e. The H. M. Patel English Medium Schools’ Complex. The complex was inaugurated by Shri Ramanbhai B. Patel – Founder Chairman and Managing Director of Cadila Group of companies.

The campus as now stands has largely four sections;
